Divided into a Community Corridor, Urban Renewal Exploration Centre, and offices, H6 Conet offers a range of amenities rooted in local history. By opening up access to six adjoining lanes, the project not only enhances connectivity but also provides a platform for public enjoyment. The incorporation of interactive digital technology further enhances the visitor experience.
The highlight of H6 Conet is the innovative bio-filter system, which acts as a natural cooling system and filters air pollutants to improve indoor air quality. This pioneering project actively draws air through the green wall, removing pollutants and creating a cleaner and healthier environment. The success of this bio-filter system has the potential to be replicated in other urban renewal projects, contributing to a sustainable future.
The design team at Oval Design Ltd. utilized indoor vertical greening to reduce indoor air pollutants through bio-filtration. Additionally, a Condensate Water System was implemented to collect and reuse condensate water from fan coil units for plant cultivation. These measures not only contribute to the bio-filter system but also promote water conservation.
The H6 Conet project covers a total area of 2,660 square meters, including a Community Corridor, Urban Renewal Exploration Centre, and office spaces. The green wall coverage spans 76.7 square meters, with a vertical green wall area of 59.3 square meters and a bio-filter area of 17.4 square meters. With a green percentage of 13.5%, H6 Conet showcases the successful integration of nature into urban spaces.
Throughout the design process, Oval Design Ltd. faced various challenges, including the lack of quantitative investigations on the removal efficiencies of air pollutants and the absence of design guidelines for real-life applications. However, through extensive research and experimentation, the team overcame these obstacles and created a design that not only enhances the aesthetics of the space but also improves the quality of life for its users.
The H6 Conet project, located on the ground floor of The Center in Central, Hong Kong, was completed in August 2017. It has since garnered recognition for its innovative design and commitment to sustainability. In 2018, the project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its outstanding creativity and contribution to quality of life improvements.
With its unique bio-filter system and commitment to sustainability, H6 Conet stands as a testament to the power of innovative design in transforming public spaces into green oases. By incorporating nature into urban environments, Oval Design Ltd. has created a space that not only enhances connectivity but also fosters a quality living environment for the community.
